Statement on the restart

The discussion about participant fees that have already been paid in the past has naturally also kept us very busy. We would therefore like to do our part to clarify the situation. In previous years, Golazo Sports was the organizer of the marathon in Düsseldorf, i.e. a completely private company. At that time, we at D.SPORTS merely acted as a sponsor of the event and placed advertisements during the event.

Since we were not at all satisfied with the general situation and development, because Golazo dissolved the marathon organization team on site in Düsseldorf and has not presented a viable concept for the organization of the marathon since 2020, we decided to take the marathon into our own hands.

We see the marathon as one of the most important events in the sports city of Düsseldorf and want it to continue to exist. From 2025, D.SPORTS/D.LIVE will therefore act as the organizer. However, this also means that the old entry fees will remain with Golazo. We have no insight into former starter lists or who has already received their entry fee back from Golazo. In this respect, we ask all those who wish to have their old entry fees refunded to contact Golazo directly(info@golazo.com).
